Wearing Accessories at the Right Place

How do I get my style right? What accessories will look best on me?
Do you know a little "right" changes actually speaks out more than you could imagine?

"Accessories add personality and polish to your outfit. They allow you and others to gain greater insight into who you are and make your personal presentation even more interesting. Accessories are the finishing touch to your outfit and create the ultimate exclamation point to your overall look!

Tip #1: Choose one focal point on your outfit and accessorize around it When you are deciding which accessory to wear, earrings, necklace or both, take a look at the focal point of your outfit. Where is your eye drawn?

If your eye is drawn to the top of the outfit, at the neckline, this is your focal point. The focal point is defined by where the unique detail of the outfit or garment is most prominent. In this case, the best choice for an accessory is to wear earrings and not to wear a necklace.

If the focal point is at the center or the waistline of your outfit, choose a short, simple necklace or none at all. Otherwise, our eye will have to compete for attention in two different directions and this will detract from the beauty of your overall look. If there is no focal point and the neckline design is simple, it becomes a canvas to fill in with a necklace as in the examples below.

Tip #2: Keep the proportion of accessories to your body size
If you are petite, keep your accessories on the smaller scale. Even if you wear fashion jewelry, smaller scale pieces will enhance your outfit rather than overwhelm or distract.
If you are tall or have a large body frame, you can go bold with the size of your accessories to reflect your style and personality.

Tip #3: Keep the tone of accessories appropriate to your industry
A stack of noisy bangles can look stylish in creative fields but would be a distraction or faux pas in conservative or traditional professions. While it’s important to express yourself most authentically, it is equally important to present a professional presentation. While stacked bangles add even more credibility to a stylist working at a photo shoot, it would raise a question of judgment if you’re working in the accounting department.

Tip #4: Match your metals
If your outfit has a specific metal color, silver or gold, coordinate your accessories in the same color tone. Here is an example of Elle McPherson wearing coordinating gold accessories with the gold detail on her jacket. She’s even coordinating her metals to the gold tone rim on her sunglasses and gold snap on her jeans! Another example is the model on the right: she is wearing a jacket with gold snaps and accessorizing with gold jewelry.

Tip #5: Avoid matching necklaces and earrings
Coordinating your necklace and earrings rather than matching them is a more modern approach to wearing accessories. The matched look will appear dated and overly mature. If your necklace is large, choose small-scale earrings. If your necklace is small scale, you can wear larger earrings.

You can have fun with your accessories, experiment a little and show your personality. By following a few style tips, accessories can transform your outfit to make it your own so that you can shine, be memorable and love how you look regardless of age!"

How to make yourself looks good in your jewelries?

What is really matter here is you look good than your jewelries look good. Generally, we all have more than one piece of accessories or jewelries. Some of us seems to have the natural talents of mix and matching them together but some of us just don't really know what to do with them. And, the best and most horrible things are, it is going to be seen by everyone of whatever the outcome is.

Read on if you want to get some tips on how and where to wear our accessories/jewelries

"Jewelry was created to accentuate features on your body/face. The type of jewelry as well as color, shape and movement all play important roles in what part of your body is given "center stage". This is because our minds are pre-programmed to look for patterns, similarities, and differences.

We'll start this edition of "What NOT to Wear: Jewelry" by explaining what body part each type of jewelry will accentuate. Understanding this is the first step to developing your own personal style so you can accessorize to look your best.

Many pieces of jewelry draw attention to the exact area where they are worn, like rings, belts and hair clips. However, other foundation jewelry items can draw the eye elsewhere; and therefore, highlight OR minimize more than just the area it covers.

Earrings will draw attention to your eyes. They frame your face and echo your pair of eyes. Practically every woman looks great in earrings since eyes are typically the most vibrant feature. From simple studs to swaying chandeliers to bold hoops, earrings will create eye allure in a number of different ways.

Adorn yourself with a necklace when you want to draw the focus to your upper body. Chokers, pendants, bibs, lariats, and luxurious long strands all give prominence to different areas of this seductive part of your body including your lips, neck, chest and decolletage. Because the focus area is primarily your skin, the materials used greatly impact this effect.

A classic example of this are pearls. Have you ever wondered why pearls are so often used in bridal and formal jewelry designs? The answer lies in one word: luminescence. The silky sheen of the pearl mimics glowing, healthy skin which looks fantastic on every woman, especially when used to highlight the skin of your upper body.

Bracelets accentuate your hands, your wrists and can even make arms appear thinner. Be it cuffs, bands, multiple strands, delicate chains with none, one, a few or a multitude of dangling charms; bracelets are a versatile way to spotlight or de-emphasize a variety of body parts.

They can also draw attention to your waist and/or hips if the bracelet is similar to what your wearing. Or bracelets can draw attention away from your mid-section if its design is in contrast to what you are wearing.

Similarly, anklets highlight your legs & feet in addition to your ankles."

Quick, let's rush to the mirror and test out some of this ideas, we will learn from our own mistakes! Oops..

Gemstones Jewelries Project: Inspiration of Chanel 2014 Cruise

Was reading a magazine one day and as usual, my eye was caught by the beautiful model captures on pictures with a rather unique style, they are wearing long dangling earrings on the same side of their ear, at least 2 pieces or more. Later that I know, it is actually Chanel 2014 Cruise. Immediately I am inspired to create long dangling earrings. :)

After it is done, I wear it myself on the same side of my ear too and put it up with the magazine picture for comparison. LOL.. luckily I have my 2nd ear pierced during teenage time, wouldn't be able to wear it this way otherwise. ><

Created a special earring hooks which is actually a part of the design itself and can be lock securely when wearing.

Stones I pick here in this project are Natural Crystal Quartz and Black Spinel. The earring is about 80mm in length.

Have you been inspired by any elements lately?

How to Gain More Sparkle for Less?

Human eye are always being caught by something either attractive or 'distractive'. 'Bling Bling' is really an debated issue between this two. Looking at the options available for the most bling bling sought after, it always point us to diamond. Are there any other way to have the same bling bling effect without causing us too much bleed in our pocket?

Read on this article if you want to know if it is possible.

"DIAMONDS may be a girl’s best friend but moissanites are definitely a guy’s best buddy – they can pass off as those pricey sparklers yet cost a fraction of their price.
“Moissanite may look like diamond but is an entirely unique jewel with different physical, optical and chemical properties. This gemstone stands on its own as it has superb fire and brilliance,” says Jenet Yong, sales supervisor of C’est si Bon jewellery store in Kuala Lumpur.

Moissanite (pronouced moy-san-nite) appears to be a perfect gemstone. Its fire or dispersion of light, is said to be twice that of diamond’s and its brilliance or reflection of light also outshines diamond.

But its most endearing quality has to be its price – one-tenth of diamond’s. The seductive combination of beauty and price is making moissanite irresistible to women.
Event manager Adeline Song has been impressing friends with a two-carat moissanite ring. “I bought it because the shine and sparkle are better than diamond’s. If you buy a top-grade diamond, it will probably cost you a condo. But with moissanite, you’re getting something that a diamond gives you but at a cheaper price. And you don’t feel so bad if you lose it.”
The stone is drawing looks in Europe and the United States, where it has garnered a following among celebrities such as Brooke Shields, Minnie Driver, Marc Anthony (it seems he loves his moissanite cufflinks), Ming-Na and Niki Taylor.
“The Australians also like moissanites particularly because they are not conflict diamonds. It is only in Malaysia that moissanites are not so well-known,” says Yong.

Moissanite is actually silicon carbide, and was discovered in 1893 by French Nobel Prize winner Dr Henri Moissan when he was studying meteorite fragments at the Canyon Diablo meteor crater in Arizona. Naturally occurring moissanite crystals are tiny and rare, thus prohibiting their use in jewellery.

US-based Charles & Colvard developed a way to create the synthetic white gem by combining the natural minerals of silicon and carbon in the laboratory. It put the stone on the market in 1998. The patented thermal growth process is intense and expensive, thus preventing mass production of the stone. It takes over six months to grow a seed into a gem-quality crystal. The company is the sole source of moissanites.
With a hardness of 9.24 compared with diamond’s 10 on the Mohs relative hardness scale, moissanite is the second hardest jewel known to man. This toughness makes it resistant to abrasions. Its refractive index (the optical property affecting the sparkle of gemstones) exceeds that of diamond’s, which is why Charles & Colvard says the stone outshines diamonds.
Moissanites are mostly near-colourless or a grade G in the colour grading for diamonds, though some have a greenish tinge. The stones are hand-cut to the “Ideal Cut”. Yong says moissanites do have needle-like inclusions inherent to the crystal growth process but these are visible only through magnification.
At C’est si Bon, the authorised local retailer of moissanites, the stones are mounted in 18k gold and white gold. The range includes rings, ear-rings, pendants and loose stones
Purchases come with a warranty that the brilliance and lustre of the stone will not fade. It might be a good idea to purchase moissanite jewellery now for prices have more than doubled in the past three years.
Though it matches most of the qualities of diamonds, moissanite still takes a back seat simply because of the emotional attachment people have for diamonds. But with the cost of most things rising, Yong believes moissanites are worth considering even for the all-important engagement or wedding rings.
“After all, it is also a gemstone, a nice, brilliant one,” she quips."

Looks like Moissanite is really another option for occasions that requires bling bling add on for girls. An uniquely created gemstone. After all, we just have to make up our mind of what we like to have.

How to tell Real Stones from Fake Stones?

When it comes to describing real stones and fake stones, so many different terms are used and they are so confusing. The common terms are natural, synthetic, lab-grown, simulated, Cubic Zirconia (CZ), rhine stones. So what is what? What are their similarities and differences? Have you ever experience that the shop promoter of an expansive jewelry shop telling your the stones that being engrave in the jewelry is a Cubic Zirconia. It does makes it sounds really sophisticated, read on and find out more what it actually is.

Instead of going deep and lengthy with all kind of special terms, we will cut the long story pretty pretty short.

Synthetic: A man-made stone created in the lab with exactly the same chemical, optical, physical properties that you can find in natural stones. Eg, a synthetic diamond that consist of carbon will be the same as natural diamond, just that the formal is created in the lab.

Simulated: A man-made stone created in the lab that resembles the material but does not necessarily contains the same  chemical, optical, physical properties as the natural stones. Eg. CZ diamond resembles the real diamond but does not have the same properties as diamonds.

Cubic Zirconia (CZ): A man made stones created in the lab that made with Zirconium oxide, a colorless stones that may be made in any other color. Often being promoted in the market under certain brands.

Rhine Stones: A man made stones created in the lab made with glass, paste or crystal quartz. Those made with crystal quartz are of higher quality in this range and often have a fused metallic backing that reflects the light and gives the stones a brilliant fire-like appearance.

Natural: This is simple, all stones that formed by our mother earth with her own chemical reactions are natural.

Instead of thinking of knowing real from fake stone, knowing what we actually buying are more important. Most of the retailers are honors about what they are selling but it relies on us to find out more on what we are buying. Let us shop smart~~

Creating Your Signature Book Marks.

After being exposed to all kind of arts, I am so excited to try out different things all the time. I love doodling since school time, so I thought why not I just make my own doodle into some book marks too.

I hope this will inspire too.

Book Marks printed out from computer with my own doodle

1. After drawing this with color pencil on art block, I snap the photo with camera and upload it to computer.

2. Next, I use Live Window Photo Gallery to edit photo to make it clearer and to sharpen the color, click on the right hand tool bar and you can adjust brightness, saturation, colors and crop if you wish.

3. Then, I insert the picture into power point, yes power point. As you can see I actually copy and paste a numbers of them. To get a different effect, first click on the image itself, then click 'Artistic Effect' and tada.. you will be able to make many of your doodle into different images.

4. To change color, click on color.

5. To change brightness or saturation click correction. I prefer to do it on window live gallery first, somehow find it different from doing here. Well, you can experiment with both and see which options you prefer. :)

6. You can choose from assorted borders above too, click on the one you prefer.

7. To change border color, click picture border.

Okie, this is one of the easier way I thought of, share with me here if you have other easier way.

P.S. Remember to add your own signature too. :)
Cheers~~

DIY Jewelry Display for Braelets

Do you always have to look through your jewelry box for that particular piece of necklace and bracelet that  you want to wear on the day? And find them all tangled up with each other in your jewelry box? I mean I had that experience before and it drive me nut... ok, I am not very organize here, I admit that. ><

Due to the Bazaar that I was attending a few days ago, it drives me to keep all jewelries organize and neat that I have to use all creativity I have to create a jewelry display which is within the  budget I have.

It is pretty simple, let me share with you here how it was done. :)

You will need:

1. A wooden tray ( you can always replace with other material that are suitable)
2. Some cork board.
3. Head Pin
4. Hot Glue/ Craft Glue
5. Ribbon 3mm with your choice of color
6. Double Sided Tape
7. Cutter
8. Ruler

Step 1: Get ready some cork board, doesn't matter about the size, it meant to be cut later.

Step 2: Measure and mark the width of 20mm

Step 3: Draw the cutting lines.

Step 4: Cut it into 20mm width strips.

Step 5: Prepare a wooden tray or any tray you can find at home as long as they have all surfaces that can be standing on any sides.

Step 6: Paste the 20 mm width strip along one side of the edge, you can decide here where you want to paste them, I am making it for my bracelets therefore I am pasting them side way that I do not need a long length for necklace for hanging.

Option 1: You can paste it with double sided tape too to avoid messy adhesive. (make sure you get a good double sided tape though, otherwise the display may fell apart)

Option 2: Use both tape and glue. Apply tape first then glue as cork board tends to absorb the moisture of glue and makes them less sticky. The layer of tape can prevent this from happening.

Step 6: Cut some 20mm X 20mm cubes from cork board to be use later.

Step 7: You should be completing it now as seen below, doesn't matter if you have a bigger or smaller piece of cork board, you can always cut extra to fill up the empty space just like what I did.

If you can find bigger ones, that be great!

Step 8: Mesure the width of your tray and cut similar length of ribbon to be use later. ( This is to add some decorative and artistic elements to the overall look really. :))

Step 9: I am using double sided tape here to paste the ribbon on the cork board which is in the tray.

Step 10: This is how they look like, I have paste 2 strips of ribbons along it.

Step 11: Prepare the cubes by applying double sided tape on them.

Step 12: Paste it on top of the first layer of cork board as shown.

Step 13: Arrange them the way you like it, the gaps between can be larger or smaller. Really, it is up to you. :)

Step 14: This is the final part, I bought this board head pin from 'Daiso', using the transparent one here.. well, this is my choice of color, you can choose yours color. :) I love options..

Step 15: Pin them through the 2 layers of cork board, this step actually help to secure the boards too.

There you go, it is completed! If you are using double sided tape, it can be use immediately. If you are using both glue and tape or just glue, allow few hours to dry before you use it.

View from the top.

This is how it looks like and they are stable enough to hold all bracelets throughout the Bazaar. If you are taking this to Bazaar too, please test it first before you go. You really don't want your jewelries fell apart.

Improvise upon this idea and share with me here what you have. Til then, see you soon.
