How to Clean Silver with Kitchen Ingredients

Cleaning silver is much easier than you thought, there are so many ways of cleaning it and removing tarnishes from it with ingredients that you can find in your kitchen.

Here is one of the method which is safe and chemical free.

What you need:

1. A glass bowl.

2. White Vinegar

3. Baking Powder

4. Salt.

5. Aluminium Foil

6. Wooden or plastic spoon (something that you can pick your jewelries up)

HERE ARE THE STEPS:

1. Wrap the glass bowl with aluminium foil.

2. Place all your silver jewelry into the bowl.

3. Sprinkle baking soda so generously that you cover up all your silver jewelries.

4. Sprinkle about half a tea spoon of salt evenly on top of your jewelries.

5. Pour boiling hot water into the bowl, don't worry, your silver jewelries are sturdy enough to stand the heat.

6. Add a table spoon of vinegar in the mixture.

7. Stir the mixture with some wooden spoon or fork. I'm using chop sticks here, which is perfect for me.

8. I will normally leave it there for half an hour before returning  to check on it progress. If a piece has been tarnished badly, you may have to repeat the whole process for few times.

9. Rinse well with warm water to remove all residues, you may like to use a soft bristle tooth brush here to help to clean up what is left on your silver.

10. Pad dry with cotton and apply a thin layer of olive oil which will help to prevent tarnishing.

NOT ADVISABLE to clean your patina silver jewelries with this method as it will have the whole piece turn white inclusive of all the highlighted details.

Happy trying out. :)

Til then,
