How do I know if I am allergy to copper?

Do you know?
Indeed, very few of us know we actually contained copper in our body throughout in our hair, bones, brain, heart, skin and our immune system.

What is copper use for? Will it poison us if we wear it?

Copper has been used as a conductor of heat, in building materials, decorative deco, art and jewelries. It has also been used in the field of medical products, medical treatments of skin disease, sports wear, military (police uniforms) and woman's cosmetic. It contain an agent, which is called antimicrobial that actually kills and inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungus and viruses. This is the reasons why it is use in UD's for birth control!

Copper has also been made into medicinal bracelet that could suppress pain in arthritis and also a natural sources providing ZINC & IRON to the body by just wearing it. It has been known in poorer developing countries for it's benefit. However, scientist and doctors refuses to extend researches into the benefits of copper due to its low in avenue return as compare to sophisticated drugs.

Why does it change color?

Natural copper are in reddish orange color, it will change to other colors, normally in blue and green by 'adding' different chemicals (salt, water, ammonia) to it. you will see the chemical reaction between the 2 when they meet. This explain why our jewelries contains copper (925 Silver) oxidized when we sweat or leave in open air. And this also explains why when some people skin tone turn green after wearing it a long reasonable of time.

However, the patina and the darkened oxidized color are very much appreciated for its antique look by art work lovers.

How to clean copper?
One of the simplest way are mixing some salt with lemon juice. Dip a soft bristle tooth brush or soft cloth in to the mixture and rub it onto the surface of the copper. Tooth paste are also another option for cleaning copper. I have tried both methods and they works!

So, how will I know if I am allergy to copper?

According to doctors, if you can handle coins made with coppers you probably won't have any problem with wearing copper.
